It’s crazy how having a kid can really change up your priorities.
My husband and I have both made changes this year that I don’t think either of us saw coming. Now that we have a third member in our family, we have a little bit of a different perspective on things.
This fall I’ll be substitute teaching part time so that I can spend more time with my daughter. I run a photography business and subbing is the perfect side hustle where I can still take off whenever I want. The flexibility allows me to keep my daughter as my top priority. The best part is that I’m subbing at the school where I used to teach full time! I get to see all my old co-workers and still be a part of something I loved, so it’s a win-win situation.
My husband hasn’t driven a car in over ten years. Remember when I told you about how I married a punk? Well, about a month ago, he got his license again. He wanted to be able to take Ruby where ever she needed to go. In the future, that could be dance classes or swim lessons, but today, it’s just fun play dates and cool parks. Never in a million years did he think he’d ever get his license. But like I said, a kiddo can really change all your priorities.
So now I’m gearing up for the first day of school, and he’s still a tiny bit nervous getting on the highway. We’re like the oldest high school couple that ever existed. I wonder if we’ll get to be on the homecoming court! A girl can dream.
